The search for a new superintendent for the Washoe County School District (WCSD) continues.

WCSD Board of Trustees held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the timeline and process of choosing a new superintendent.

As we reported last month, former Superintendent Traci Davis was fired and the Deputy Superintendent, Dr. Kristen McNeill, was named Interim Superintendent.

The Board chose not to move forward with specific discussions in their last meeting because two trustees were absent, but they unanimously voted to set a timeline goal for the Board to hire a superintendent before the start of the 2020-2021 school year.

They also moved to accept open process and to accept competitive proposals to support a national search, while making sure it's inclusive on emphasis of a local candidate.

Any local candidates are encouraged to apply.

Trustees and community members were able to add their input in Tuesday's meeting about the professional qualifications and the personal traits they desire in a new superintendent.

They also unanimously voted for proposals to come back to the Board before being issued.

This is a developing story.
