While many students are settling in to their new classrooms at Desert Skies, Sky Ranch and Nick Poulakidas Elementary, the school district is moving forward with construction at other sites.

In Spanish Springs, crews are getting everything ready at the site for the new Bohach Elementary School where the school district will hold a groundbreaking ceremony next week.

Officials say the school will have a number of energy saving features like a geothermal exchange for its HVAC system, white roofs and window shading.

“This is actually going to be our most energy efficient elementary school in the entire district,” says Adam Searcy, Chief Facilities Management Officer, WCSD.

He says the school, like others being built, will also help with overcrowding in the area.

The new school is scheduled to open August 2020.
