Aces Release

Joel Payamps and the Aces pitching staff brought their best stuff tonight against the Iowa Cubs. For the first time since August 9, 2009, the Aces allowed just one hit in a complete-game victory. The 25-year-old right-hander went seven innings of one-run, one-hit baseball tonight. Payamps was perfect until a high fly ball by Treant Giambrone was lost in the center-field sun and resulted in an inside-the-park home run. Alberto Rosario singled in Ben DeLuzio for the first run of the ballgame in the bottom of the fourth inning and saw the score tied in the fifth. The score remained tied at one until the bottom of the eighth. With two runners on and two outs, Rosario drove in Blake Swihart and Jamie Westbrook to give Reno a 3-1 lead. Kevin Ginkel came on in the ninth to close things out and give the Aces their 50th victory of the season and eighth in nine games. Reno will welcome the Omaha Storm Chasers tomorrow night at Greater Nevada Field. The first pitch on Fireworks Friday is slated for 7:05 p.m.
