The Reno Aces have been victorious in seven consecutive games following a 13-7 win over the visiting Iowa Cubs on Tuesday night. Reno entered tonight’s contest having swept back-to-back series for the first time since 2012. The I-Cubs jumped out to an early 2-0 against starter Jon Duplantier in the top of the first inning tonight. Reno responded with a run of their own in the bottom half of the first, two in the second and four in the fourth inning to take a 7-5 lead. A Dixon Machado homer in the top of the 7th made is 6-9, but a nice string of hitting from John Ryan Murphy (walk), Ben DeLuzio (RBI Double), Juniel Querecuto (RBI single) and Ildemaro Vargas (single) broke the game open with the Aces leading 11-6. Querecuto was the star of the show tonight, homering twice and driving in five runs in a 3-for-5 effort. Matt Koch tossed the final five innings out of the bullpen for manager Chris Cron. Koch went 5.0 innings, allowed two runs on five hits and struck out eight. The Aces will go for the series victory tomorrow night with the first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m.
