Reno waited until the bottom of the eighth inning to turn things on Thursday night against the Tacoma Rainiers. The Aces plated two in the bottom of the eighth to sweep the Rainiers; winning by a score of 4-3. Infielder Domingo Leyba drove in the game-tying run on an RBI-double. A few batters later, Matt Szczur brought in the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly scoring Leyba. The win marked the third sweep of the season for Reno.  Ildemaro Vargas, Blake Swihart, and Domingo Leyba all recorded two hits in the game. Taylor Widener turned in his third quality start of the year in the contest tossing six innings allowing three earned runs on four hits to go with five strikeouts. However, it would be lefty Robby Scott earning the win in the game throwing a scoreless two innings of relief. Flame-thrower Kevin Ginkel recorded another two strikeouts tonight en route to his fourth save of the season. He now has 32 strikeouts in 14 innings pitched for the Aces this season. A three-game series against Fresno awaits the Aces tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. with a starting pitcher yet to be announced to for the squad.
