UPDATE: Reno Police say 30-year-old Jacob Woodhouse was found in the 100 block of Jade Street and taken into custody.

UPDATE: The Reno Police Department has released new details on why an officer shot his gun near the 7-Eleven on Mt. Rose Street on Monday.

They said around 3 p.m., detectives with the Regional Crime Suppression Unit were in the parking lot of the store when they were watching a wanted suspect come out of his parked car.

They said 30-year-old Jacob Woodhouse was wanted in Reno and Sparks for several felony charges.

Reno Police say detectives tried to arrest him, but he fled to the back seat of his car. A struggle ensued and during that time, police noticed Woodhouse was armed with a handgun.

Reno Police say the driver of the car started to drive out of the parking lot with one of the detectives still struggling with Woodhouse.

That's when they say another detective fired a single shot at one of the tires of the car.

The detective hanging out of the car was able to get away.  The suspect vehicle fled the scene eastbound on Mt. Rose Street.

Reno Police say the car continued before stopping on a nearby street, at which time Woodhouse and an unidentified passenger exited and fled on foot.

They said a short time later, police found the vehicle and the driver, 23-year-old Brandon Orthwein. He was arrested for obstructing and resisting.

Reno Police say they are still looking for Woodhouse. They are asking for the public's assistance finding him and identifying the subject who fled with him on foot.

Reno Police say the officer who fired the gun was a Sparks Police officer. The Regional Washoe County Officer Involved Shooting Protocol has been enacted and the Reno Police Department is the lead agency for the case.

They said no one was hurt during the incident.

Woodhouse is described a white male, around 5'10" tall and weighs around 160 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes.

Reno Police said there is probable cause for burglary and grand larceny from the Sparks Police Department, but he is also wanted for several felony warrants from the Reno Police Department.

Anyone with any information on his whereabouts is urged to contact Reno Police at (775) 334-2188 or Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900. You will remain anonymous.
