UPDATE: The roads at South McCarran Boulevard and Caughlin Parkway are back open.

The Reno Fire Department says forward progress of a brush fire at South McCarran Boulevard and Greensburg Circle has been stopped.

They said crews are still on scene to contain the fire.

Reno Fire says all northwest bound lanes of McCarran are open at Caughlin Parkway, although southwest bound is down to one lane.

The fire was first reported just before 3 p.m. on Thursday.

Reno Fire says the fire was stopped at a little over an acre.

They said numerous houses were threatened but none of them were damaged.

There's no word on how the fire started yet, but the Reno Fire Department is warning residents of the high fire danger during this hot, dry weather.

The public is asked to avoid the area until further notice.

We will report more details as they become available.
