Some patients that have Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance may have issues going to Renown Health later this summer.

A Renown Health representative says its contract with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield ends next month. Renown Health says it is trying to find an "acceptable" solution before next month's deadline.

In a statement, Renown Health says:

“Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield issued a termination notice of the company’s contract with Renown Health in February. Since receiving notice, we have been working with Anthem to find a solution that works for everyone. While we continue that pursuit, if acceptable resolution is not achieved by the effective date of the termination notice, July 31, 2019, Anthem enrollees may no longer have access to covered services at Renown. We will continue our efforts to resolve contract negotiations with Anthem fairly and equitably while we carry on working to ensure the greatest access and quality healthcare services for our community.”

Anthem gave us this statement:

“Anthem is committed to improving lives and communities, and simplifying healthcare. That is why we continue to actively negotiate in good faith with Renown Health (Renown) to reach an agreement that protects access to affordable, high-quality health care for our Northern Nevada community and keeps Renown in our provider network. We believe hospitals and doctors should be compensated fairly, and this has been reflected in the offers we have made to Renown. We continue to negotiate in good faith in an effort to reach an agreement with Renown before the contract terminates on July 31. However, to provide adequate notice in the event that this cannot be achieved, we are informing our consumers of the situation. It is important to note that consumers can continue to see their Renown healthcare providers as we continue to work toward an agreement.”
