The Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) says emergency crews responded to a fatal crash on US-95 northbound, 50 miles north of Tonopah on Tuesday evening.

They said two cars were involved in a head-on crash.

NHP says there was one confirmed fatality and the other person was taken to the hospital with major injuries via CareFlight.

NHP says during a preliminary investigation, they believe one car tried to pass the other and that's when the crash happened.

They said the official cause of the crash is still under investigation.

NHP says drivers should expect intermittent closures along US-95 in the area.

This is a developing story.
