The Reno Fire Department says they responded to a brush fire near Valley Road and Enterprise Road on Monday evening.

They said it was a one-acre fire.

Reno Fire said it moved up the slope toward South Maddux Drive.

They sent four engines and 18 personnel who stopped forward progress in six minutes.

They said the fire threatened power poles but no structures.

They said no evacuations were necessary and no homes were damaged or lost. 

Reno Fire said NV Energy responded to inspect the power poles and they said no outages are expected.

They said Valley Road was closed for about an hour between Denslowe Drive and Timber Way.

Reno Fire said there were no injuries.

They said they were lucky, because there was no heat or wind.

Battalion Chief Mike Pilcher said the safety message is to use utmost care with sources of ignition.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
