The Reno Police Department have released new details on a standoff that happened in the 1100 block of Sageberry Court on Monday.

They said around 4:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a physical domestic disturbance between a 28-year-old adult son and his father.

They said during the fight, the son struck the father with a crowbar. They said the father went to Renown where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Reno Police say it was reported that the son had access to firearms within the house.

Officers surrounded the home and made several attempts to contact the son, both by phone and through the PA system.

They said the son never made contact with officers.

A SWAT team was called out to the scene after that.

Reno Police say during a search of the home, SWAT officers found the son inside deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Reno Police say they are currently investigating his death and his name is not being released at this time.
