Landon Miller is stepping down from his role as evening and late news anchor at KTVN 2 News, but will remain a key part of the 2 News team.

“After putting a lot of thought into this, I’ve realized I’d be happier focusing on more original reporting; telling the stories of our community,” Miller said.  “This change will also allow me to pursue a Master’s Degree in Spanish, which is an important personal goal, but hard to achieve with the duties required of a main anchor at 2 News.”

“It was my dream to be a news anchor at KTVN.  I grew up here in Reno watching this station.  It’s been unbelievable to make that dream come true each night for the past several years,” Miller said.

In addition to studying Spanish at the University of Nevada, Miller also plans to continue teaching future journalists at the Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada.

With Miller in a new role, Ryan Canaday is being promoted to take his place as co-anchor of KTVN’s evening and late Monday through Friday 2 News broadcasts.

Starting Tuesday, June 18th, Canaday will shift from his current duties as weekend anchor/reporter to a main anchor/reporter, co-anchoring 2 News at 5:00 p.m., 2 News at 5:30 p.m., 2 News at 6:30 p.m.,

2 News at 7:00 p.m. and 2 News at 11:00 p.m.  Canaday will also anchor the station’s very popular Your 2 Cents segment, which airs in 2 News at 4:00 p.m. and 2 News at 6:30 p.m

“I’m excited to take on this important role at 2 News alongside Kristen Remington and Arianna Bennett,” Canaday said.  “I’m so proud of the coverage 2 News provides to our community, and to be able to keep doing that in this new position is an absolute honor.”

“Ryan has done excellent work at 2 News over the past five years, both as our weekend anchor and as a reporter.  I’m thrilled that he’s able to step into this new role here and help lead the 2 News team into the future,” said KTVN News Director Jason Pasco.  “Having someone with Ryan’s talents ready to move into this key position while keeping Landon’s passion for journalism and unique style as part of our team is truly a win-win for 2 News and for our viewers.”
