Father's Day is this Sunday and Campo Reno is reaching out to the community - offering a special way to show your love; an interactive sculpture will be on display at the City Plaza - before moving in front of the restaurant.

The idea is the creation of the same man responsible for the Karma Boxes seen all over town.

Today, the finishing touches are almost complete for the Locked In Love memorial, before it moves to a public space.

It's being created for a very specific reason;

"For anybody who's lost somebody to addiction, or anybody who actively has a loved one who's out active in addiction,” explains Grant Denton, with the Campo Community Crew.

The structure is designed to hold padlocks.

After hanging your padlock, Denton explains, then once can; "Sign a little message on it and this way they'll be able to have a place where they can either mourn their lost loved one or where they'll be able to hold space for those who they've lost in hopes they'll come back."

The Campo Community Crew - employees from the restaurant - is volunteering their time to finish the structure.

IT WAS BUILT BY A VOLUNTEER, AS WELL

“Mike Reid is the builder of this,” Denton tells us, “He's actually the builder of the Karma Box project. He helped me with a lot of the boxes there.”

"There's always an intrinsic reward in paying it forward - helping others that you don't know," says Reid.

A sentiment that is especially important to Denton, who came up with the came up with the idea for the Locked In Love memorial.

Now in recovery, Grant spent most of his life addicted to drugs; "When we're out, our loved ones are also out, when we're not doing well; our loved ones are also not doing well."

THE STRUCTURE WILL BE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC THIS WEEKEND

"On Sunday at 10 AM it's gonna be in the City Plaza, right next to the Believe sign. So, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM anyone can come out, bring a lock".

Volunteers will be at the city plaza near the Believe sign this weekend (you’re encouraged to bring your own lock).

All are invited to participate.
