On Sunday cops in Northern Nevada busted out the aprons and started flipping burgers to benefit Special Olympics of Nevada.

"This is was Chuck Allen's vision when he was a Nevada State Trooper Public Information Officer, he got involved in Special Olympics and he created this event to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics and the athletes here in Nevada." Said Barbara Stapleton, Trooper.

At the event community members were able to enjoy a car show as well, and those who registered in the show all donated to the Special Olympics Nevada.

The Cops and Burgers event started 12 years ago where Troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol volunteer their time to flip burgers and raise money for Special Olympics Nevada. Since its conception many local law enforcement agencies have also joined in on the event to support Special Olympics Nevada.

"Northern Nevada has been the most amazing community, even through the recessions, they've always stepped up to come out and to help the kids in Nevada." Stapleton.
