The intersection of California and Keystone Avenues is scheduled to close on Monday until mid-August for crews to create new bike lanes and wider sidewalks.

The work is taking place during Reno High School's summer break to make less of an impact on computer speed. It will also allow crews to complete the work a lot quicker than if it were done during the school year.

Traffic will be detoured during the intersection closure.

Starting Wednesday at 6am, one lane of California Ave. will be closed from Newlands Circle to Booth Street, one lane of travel in each direction will be open.

Booth Street is closed from Foster Drive to California Ave. These patterns will continue until mid July, then Booth will re-open and California Ave. will be closed from Newlands Circle to Booth Street until August.

  • Traffic heading eastbound on California Avenue will be detoured to Booth Street to Riverside Drive or 1st Street.
  • Through traffic heading westbound on California Avenue will be detoured at Arlington Avenue to Riverside Drive or 1st Street. California Avenue west of Arlington Avenue will be open to residential traffic only to Newlands Park.
  • Keystone Avenue will be open to southbound traffic only between Booth Street and Riverside Drive.

RTC advises that people plan for these alternate routes or avoid the area.
