UPDATE: The Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) has released new details on a fatal crash that happened last Friday near Fernley.

They said around 4 p.m. that day, troopers responded to the crash on US-50 Alternate (US-50A) at the intersection of Desert Rose in Fernley.

They said a silver 2009 Cadillac SUV was going northbound on Desert Rose and was about to make a left turn onto US-50 Alternate.  NHP says a blue 1990 Dodge sedan was going eastbound on US-50A, and the Cadillac struck the sedan when it made the left-hand turn onto US-50A.

The sedan came to rest in the right-hand lane and right shoulder of US-50A westbound. The Cadillac landing in the right-hand lane of US-50A eastbound.

NHP says the driver of the sedan, 67-year-old Hector Luis Reyes of Fallon died of his injuries at the hospital.

NHP says they are seeking additional witnesses to the crash. Anyone with any information is urged to contact Trooper Max Davis at (775) 687-9618.

They said two cars were involved and one person died.
