Rebecca Feiden Appointed to State Public Charter School Authority
Rebecca Feiden's first day will be April 16th.
Governor Steve Sisolak announced the appointment of Rebecca Feiden as executive director of the Nevada State Public Charter School Authority. Feiden is currently the acting executive director of the Nevada Achievement School District within the Nevada Department of Education. Feiden’s first day will be April 16th.
“As a lifelong educator with both administrative and classroom experience in charter schools, Rebecca is uniquely qualified to lead the State Public Charter School Authority,” Gov. Sisolak said. “I am thrilled to appoint Rebecca to spearhead Nevada’s public charter school program as we set course to improve Nevada's public education system.”
Since 2016, Feiden has served as director, then acting executive director, of the Nevada Achievement School District (ASD) within the Nevada Department of Education. In this role, she has helped establish, oversee, and execute all facets of charter school sponsoring, including managing the successful launch of the first four charter schools in the Nevada ASD portfolio. Feiden began her career as an educator in Philadelphia, where she most recently served as the managing director of operations for Scholar Academies, a charter management organization. Previously, she worked as a mathematics teacher and director of operations at a Philadelphia charter school and as a mathematics and science teacher for the School District of Philadelphia.
Feiden holds a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and physics from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT and a teaching certificate from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education in Philadelphia.
