Wolf Pack Baseball Drops 2nd Game of Series to Aztecs
Reno, Nev. – Nevada (16-14, 6-8 MW) dropped the second contest of a three-game series with San Diego State (17-14, 6-6 MW) with a 6-2 loss on Saturday night. With the series now even, the rubber match will be slated for 1 p.m. tomorrow with tickets available online.
Jaylon McLaughlin led the Pack with three hits on the evening, his sixth time this season hitting that mark. He now leads the team with a .400 batting average in conference play.
Nevada plated the first run of the game thanks to a sacrifice fly by Joshua Zamora that scored Weston Hatten. Leading off the game with a triple, Hatten scored easily from third on Zamora’s fly ball.
The Pack went scoreless the rest of the game, and only surrendered runs in two innings but the Aztecs put up four in the sixth to take a lead it would never let go of. Owen Sharts got the start and pitched a shutout up until the sixth inning. He finished with four strikeouts on the night.
After two more runs scored in the seventh, Ben Purcell came in for Nevada and pitched the final 2.2 frames only allowing one hit. Nick Seamons plated an RBI-double in the ninth to begin a rally for Nevada, but the Pack couldn’t finish and finished the game falling 6-2.
John Ramey will call the final game of the series tomorrow on 94.1 FM/1450 AM. There will be no live stream of the contest.
