At the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships on Monday, freshman Laura Isabel Vazquez Lopez qualified for the NCAA Championships with a sixth place finish. Automatic bids were given to the top eight finishers. 


Three of the four Pack divers finished in the top 18 during prelims, earning them a spot in the finals that were held in the afternoon. Lopez had 296.15 points and sat in seventh heading into finals where she finished with 614.40 points overall. Linnea Sorensen went into finals with 286.95 and in 11th place but finished 585.95 and moved up to 10th overall, just missing the NCAA cut off by 7.45 points. 


 

Senior, Toma Shmitova qualified for finals with a 275.15 in 18th place where she added 262.70 points in the finals round to move her into 16th with a tally of 537.85. Victoria Rice wrapped up prelims in 28th place with a score of 251.45. 


 

Lopez will represent the Mountain West at NCAA's, as she is the lone qualifier from conference in the 3-meter event. The national championship meet will take place in Austin, Texas and are set for March 20-23.


The Zone E Diving Championships continue for the next two days at Northern Arizona's Wall Aquatic Center. The women will switch springboards on Tuesday to the 1-meter, and then will compete on the platform on Wednesday.
