Storey County officials say the boil water notice is now lifted after bacteriological test results indicate that E. Coli and other coliform bacteria are not present in the system.

They say if you experience discolored water, let it run until it runs clear.

Storey County officials say around 3:10 p.m. on Wednesday, a semi-truck turning east from SR-341 onto 6 Mile Canyon struck a fire hydrant, causing a large water leak.

They said the hydrant was shut down and isolated, but as a result of the high volume and velocity of the leak, sediment contained within the water system was disturbed, causing discoloration in the water.
