UPDATE: Recovery efforts resumed today on Lake Topaz at 9:00 a.m. by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Marine 7 and SAR units, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Specialized Vehicle Unit (SUV) and their HASTY Dive Team, and Wardens from the Nevada Department of Wildlife.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. Marine 7’s ROV located the body of Jesse Gregory at a depth of 22 feet.  A coordinated recovery effort by Marine 7, Hasty Divers, and Nevada Game Wardens resulted in the successful recovery of Gregory’s body.

The surviving fisherman has recovered and was released from the hospital.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says the deceased victim of the Topaz Lake accident is identified as:

Bert Pederson of Sparks, Nevada (45)

Jesse Gregory of Sparks, Nevada (50) is still missing and presumed to have drowned. 

Scott Wise was also involved in the accident and taken Carson Valley Medical Center for treatment.  Scott was released from CVMC after treatment.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a boating accident in the Topaz Lake area. 

A boat capsized in the Topaz Lake with three people on-board, currently one person has been rescued and being treated for medical needs.

We are currently searching for the other two passengers with our Search and Rescue Team, the assistance of the Washoe County Search and Rescue Team, East Fork Fire Department, and the Nevada Department of Wildlife.
