No. 5 Nevada improved to 8-0 after winning 73-61 at USC (5-3) on Saturday afternoon at the Galen Center.

The Wolf Pack has started the season 8-0 for the second year in a row.  The 8-0 start equals the best in the NCAA I era for the Pack.

Nevada returns to Los Angeles on Friday to play its second of three Pac-12 opponents, Arizona State at the STAPLES Center at 9 p.m. in the Basketball Hall of Fame Classic.  The game will air on ESPN2.

The Pack has won all eight games this season by double figures this season.

Nevada trailed at halftime for the first time this season, 35-34 but outscored USC 39-26 in the second half.

Today’s game was the first in which the Pack did not score first.

Nevada won the rebounding battle 37-33 and has outrebounded all eight opponents this season.

Jordan Caroline posted his sixth double-double of the season and 33rd of his career with 24 points and 11 rebounds.  The 33 career double-doubles is fourth most in Nevada history.  The 24 points was a game high.

Nevada is 31-2 when Caroline double-double.

Caroline moved into 15th on the Nevada scoring list passing Luke Babbitt (2008-10) with his 1,328 points in the Silver & Blue.  Including his 303 at Southern Illinois he has netted 1,631 points in his collegiate career.

Head coach Eric Musselman improved to 89-29 in his fourth season at Nevada.

Nevada improved to 64-16 when ranked in the Associated Press top 25.

Caroline and Caleb Martin (14 pts) have scored in double figures in all eight games this season, 39-26 in the second half.

Tre’Shawn Thurman had a season-high nine rebounds for third time this year.  Thurman netted 14 points and for the second time this year was a rebound shy of his first double-double at Nevada.
