The Truckee Fire Protection District says they responded to a house explosion in Floriston on Monday afternoon.

Nick Brown, Public Information Officer for the Truckee Fire Protection District, said the explosion happened around 3:30 p.m. at a residence on Spruce Street.

He said no one was in the home at the time of the explosion and there were no reported injuries.

Brown said the neighborhood was evacuated and one house next door suffered some damage from the blast. He said the explosion affected all nearby homes and all the building were red-tagged for an investigation. About 12 to 16 houses are without electricity, Brown said.

Brown said he is not sure when power will be restored.

The cause of the blast is under investigation.
