California Highway Patrol says two people from Indiana are dead after a crash on US 395 near Janesville early Tuesday afternoon.

CHP says a driver was heading north on US 395 in a GMC Sierra pickup when for some unknown reason he drove into the oncoming lane, hitting a Chevy Cruze holding four people that was heading south on US 395. CHP says the truck then hit a Hyundai Elantra head-on, then it rolled over onto its side hitting a SUV.

CHP says the 76-year-old passenger died on scene and the second person, the 75-year-old driver inside the same Elantra, later died at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.

Everyone else was transported to hospitals for treatment of their injuries.

CHP says the driver of the truck, 67-year-old Douglas Hansken, was arrested for driving under in the influence, and gross vehicular manslaughter. The agency says due to his injuries, he was flown to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.

CHP says everyone involved in the crash wore seat belts, and that their investigation is ongoing.
