There are 621 days until the next General Election. Who will face Senator Harry Reid?

Earlier this week, Senator Dean Heller said Governor Brian Sandoval is the best candidate. The best? Yes. The most probable? No, according to Fred Lokken, a political scientist and professor at TMCC.

"I'm taking the governor at his word at this point in time,” said Lokken.  “I'm not seeing any efforts on his part to change that. So I know that's the one they want, but that's not the candidate they're going to get."

Lokken says Reid has an advantage heading into November 2016 if Sandoval doesn't run. Other possible candidate, Lokken says, include former Lt. Governor Brian KroRollickd perhaps a sitting congressman. But going up against Reid will be tough.

"He is a formidable opponent for the Republicans, and if it isn't Brian Sandoval, then I'm not so sure other Republicans will be eager to go on the ballot because the chances of winning are slim."

Things can change within the next 621 days. We'll be sure to keep you posted.
