Fugitive From California Arrested in Douglas County
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has a fugitive from California in custody.
Deputies say they worked with the F.B.I. and responded to Linda Anne Court in the East Valley area of Gardnerville around 3 p.m. on Friday.
Deputies received information that the fugitive, 47-year old Rick Oliver, was in the area. He was convicted in Yuba County, California for a sexual assault of a minor. Deputies say Oliver fled California to avoid sentencing and being captured. Oliver has prior convictions for narcotics and sex offenses.
When authorities arrived on scene, deputies say they found Oliver, who soon tried to run off before being arrested by officers. Oliver was booked into the Douglas County Jail where he is being held as a fugitive from justice on the charges in California. He will be held without bail until he is extradited back to Yuba County.
Authorities also arrested 41-year old Adrian Froid of Reno, who was an associate of Oliver. He was charged with obstructing and delaying an officer and is being held on $637 bail.
