FBI Report Shows Violent Crimes Down In Reno
The Federal Bureau of Investigation released its 2011 crime statistics for the entire country on Monday.
What the report shows locally might surprise you.
Murder was one of the few crimes that increased this year compared to 2010. In Reno, there were six, one more than last year. Arsons also increased. There were 15 this year compared to 13 in 2010.
However, most crimes fell according to the FBI report. Violent crimes were down to 491 from 575 last year. The number of rapes dropped in half from 2010.
The biggest drop came in property crimes. Just over 3,000 this year and that's 800 less than in 2010.
