Broncos Select Green As Nevada Has Three Players Drafted
RENO, Nev. – Former Nevada standout tight end Virgil Green was selected with the first pick of the seventh round on Saturday by the Denver Broncos.
"I can't wait to get on the field at this next level," Green said. "Nevada has been so good to me and I owe the school, team, coaches and fans a big ‘Thank You!'"
Green's selection capped off a three-player draft class for the University of Nevada. Former Wolf Pack quarterback Colin Kaepernick was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the second round on Friday. Former defensive end Dontay Moch was picked in the third round by the Cincinnati Bengals on Friday.
This is the first time Nevada has had three players selected in a single draft since 1998 when DeShone Myles (4th round), John Dutton (6th) and James Cannida (6th) were all picked.
"We're excited for Colin, Dontay and Virg as each of them very much deserves this opportunity," Nevada coach Chris Ault said. "We're proud of them and we certainly are hopeful that some of the other members of the Dream Team senior class get an opportunity via the free agent market."
