Sparks Baldini's Casino Sold to Montana Investors

Baldini's Sports Casino in Sparks has been sold by the Baldwin family to a group of investors from Missoula, Montana.

Grant Lincoln, an investor and head of United Coin Machine Co., says the new group took ownership at midnight New Year's Eve.

Las Vegas-based United Coin has leased the casino operations that include 600 slot machines.

But Lincoln says no major changes are planned, and the current management and employees will remain in place.

Baldini's was founded by Donald Baldwin, former owner of a supermarket chain who turned to casino gambling in 1988.

The local sports casino has been run by Baldwin's children, son Monty Baldwin and daughter Sherry Pringle.

The casino caters to a local clientele, and the new owners say that will remain their focus. "The locals is what built this property and again we cater to the locals. Our food specials are price-value oriented," says Randy Wike.

They run lots of promotions through it's club program, but also give out freebies to workers who cash paychecks there. "On Thursday and Friday primarily, the paycheck cashing, there's a line out the door here at Baldini's."

The parties won't say how much Baldini's sold for and the Baldwin's aren't commenting on why they put it for sale.
