Wendy grew up in Walnut Creek, California. She attended the University of Nevada, Reno, following in her father`s footsteps. After graduating, her first job was at KTVN as a weekend/nightside assignment editor. Ten months later she was promoted to reporter/photographer. Eventually she anchored the weekend and early morning newscasts. Her latest promotion came in 2000 when she became the evening news anchor/HealthWatch reporter.
You may remember her as Wendy Wyness, but on August 12, 2000 she married Darrin Damonte. Wendy's hobbies include gourmet cooking, competing in triathlons and adventure races and going to movies. However most of that has been put on hold since the birth of her daughter, Eva Diana, in 2003 and son Dominic in 2005.
She also supports our community through her volunteer work as a board member of Pack Paws (promoting and advancing women in sports) at the University and the University Alumni Association, and volunteers her time with the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and the Boys & Girls Club.
