Reno Police say they have arrested a man who stole a car that eventually crashed into the side of a WCSD school bus near Mae Anne Avenue on Friday. No students were hurt.

Around 9 a.m., officers say they tried to stop the car near Mae Anne and McCarran, but the driver took off.

Police stopped the pursuit for safety reasons, and later found the driver, 27-year-old Ryan Nott had crashed the car into the side of the school bus near Amarak and Royal Vista Ways.

Authorities say three children and the driver inside the bus were not hurt.

"Nobody got hurt, that's the important thing. The property can be replaced, the bus can be fixed," says Sgt. Robert Hanifan.

Police say Nott ran away from the crash site but was eventually found about a quarter mile away.

The Washoe County School Police Department is investigating the traffic collision.

As a precaution, the Washoe County School District placed nearby McQueen High School on a precautionary code yellow lockdown, but it is lifted.
