The Reno Police Department and Sparks Police Department responded to the area of Rock Boulevard and Glendale Avenue on Monday morning for a stolen vehicle.

Reno Police said an officer saw the vehicle earlier in the area of 2nd Street near the Grand Sierra Resort.

They said the officer noticed fictitious plates on the vehicle, indicating it might have been stolen.

When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle fled.

The officer did not pursue it.

The car was later found abandoned at Rock and Glendale and it was discovered the vehicle was indeed stolen.

Reno Police say they're in the process of recovering it and returning it to the owner.

There's no word on the suspect at this time.
