UPDATE: Earlier it was reported that Washoe County Sheriff's Office said the lost skier was on Mt. Rose.

They said they discovered the skier was at Homewood Mountain Resort and passed the case to the Placer County Sheriff's Office.

Placer County Sheriff says the skier was found by ski patrol within 30 minutes and did not have to get involved.

Washoe County Search and Rescue are looking for a lost skier on Mt. Rose. 

Washoe County Deputies tell us the skier got lost and called for help. 

There's no immediate word on if the skier is hurt. 

Nevada Highway Patrol says a portion of Mt. Rose Highway is currently closed, and as a result Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe is closed for the day. 

Meanwhile, California Highway Patrol in Bridgeport tells us two cars got stuck on the Mammoth Scenic Loop because some people involved wanted to do a night hike. The next morning they called for a tow truck to help get them out.

CHP says everyone is safe, but they say the outcome could have been much worse.

A winter storm warning remains up for the Sierra until 4am Friday with another round of heavy snow in the mountains, chain controls and travel delays.

An avalanche warning is also up for the Sierra through Friday morning.
