UPDATE: On Friday January 11th, 2019 at about 9:39 P.M. Reno Fire, REMSA and Reno Police Officers responded to the area of 6th St. and Valley Rd. in Reno on the report of a vehicle vs pedestrian traffic crash. Upon their arrival they located the pedestrian down in the roadway.

The pedestrian, a 67 year old Reno resident was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. The pedestrian succumbed to her injuries approximately 3 hours after the crash. 

The driver of the striking vehicle stayed on scene, but was arrested for DUI Causing Substantial Bodily Harm. The driver has been identified as 48 year old Christopher Watts. 

The Reno Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team responded to investigate the crash. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of the family.  

The intersection of 6th and Valley is still closed at this time, and is not expected to re-open until approximately 3:00 A.M.

The Reno Police Department says they responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash at East 6th Street and Valley Road on Friday night.

They said a person was walking against the green light traffic and a vehicle struck them, even though they were in the crosswalk.

The pedestrian was transported to the hospital.

Reno Police said the driver is cooperating with the investigation.

East 6th Street at Valley Road is closed at this time.
