The Reno Fire Department says they responded to reports of a fire at the Siegel Suites on Virginia Street on Thursday evening.

They said the call came in around 5:35 p.m.

The whole building was evacuated and the fire was contained to one unit on the 14th floor.

Reno Fire said they believe the origin of the fire was from a microwave, but the cause is still under investigation.

They said the building's fire sprinkler system was activated and it knocked down the fire.

Reno Fire said Virginia and First Streets were closed for around 45 minutes.

They said about five units were displaced due to water damage from the sprinklers and the Red Cross is working to help those residents.
