Gov.-Elect Sisolak Announces Key Senior Staff Hires
Gov.-elect Steve Sisolak has announced six key hires in his administration.
Gov.-elect Steve Sisolak has announced six key hires in his administration, including Michelle White as Chief of Staff, J. Brin Gibson as General Counsel, Scott Gilles as Senior Advisor, Allison Combs as Policy Director, Francisco Morales as Public Relations and Community Affairs Director, and Keith J.D. Hightower as Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs Director. Susan Brown was previously announced as Budget Director.
“I am excited to be able to have such talented individuals as part of my administration,” said Gov.-elect Sisolak. “The experience and skills these members will bring to this team cannot be matched and I am honored to have them by my side as we work to keep Nevada moving forward.”
Michelle White, who will serve as Chief of Staff in the administration, has been the Executive Director of the Sisolak transition team. Previously, Michelle served as the Nevada State Director of For Our Future during the 2018 election cycle, Deputy State Director of Hillary for Nevada, and as Executive Director to the State Senate Democratic Caucus as well as senior advisor to legislative leadership across multiple sessions.
Brin Gibson, who will be Sisolak’s General Counsel, is the outgoing First Assistant Attorney General of Nevada and chief of the Gaming Division for the Office of the Attorney General. Gibson joined the OAG in January of 2015 as chief of the Gaming Divisions. Prior to joining the office, Gibson practiced law with what was then Nevada’s largest law firm.
Scott Gilles managed Government Affairs & Legislative Relations for the City of Reno since February 2015. Gilles will be a Senior Advisor to the Sisolak administration. Prior to his time with the City of Reno, Gilles served as the Deputy Secretary of State for Elections for the State of Nevada.
Allison Combs, who will serve as Policy Director, has served as the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Director of Public Policy at NSHE for the last six years. There she was responsible for working collaboratively with stakeholders to develop and write new or revised policy for consideration of the Nevada Board of Regents. Prior to that position, Combs served in the Research Division in the Nevada Legislative Counsel Bureau for 18 years, including as the Chief Principal Research Analyst for eight years.
Francisco Morales will serve as Director of Public Affairs and Community Relations. He recently served as a Deputy Transition Director for Gov.-elect Sisolak and Political Director for his gubernatorial campaign. Morales also served as a Senior Representative and Advisor to Congresswoman Titus and Deputy Political Director for the Culinary Workers Union Local 226. As a first generation immigrant from an indigenous community in Mexico, Morales is active in immigrant rights and serves as a board member for DREAM Big Nevada.
Keith J.D. Hightower, who currently serves as Legislative Director under Governor Sandoval, will serve as Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs Director. Prior to his service in the Sandoval administration, Hightower was the Assistant Director of Development & Admissions at Boyd School of Law where he earned his J.D. in 2017.
