UPDATE: Two memorial services are being planned for Dennis Hof, according to his website.

Dennishof.com states the first memorial will be in Carson City on November 3, at the Fandango Casino.

The website says the doors will open at 1:30 p.m. and the celebration of life will run from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. It will take place in the Royal Crown Room.

A second service is being planned for southern Nevada after November 6, according to Hof's Twitter.

Original Story: The Nye County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that brothel owner Dennis Hof died at the Love Ranch in Crystal on Tuesday morning. Hof was 72.

Dennis Hof's campaign manager also confirmed Hof's death on Twitter.

An official statement on his passing was released on Tuesday afternoon from the Friends of Hof campaign:

It is with great sadness and tremendous shock to announce that Dennis Hof, 72, passed away sometime this morning in his sleep at the Love Ranch brothel in Crystal, Nevada. He was discovered by longtime friend Ron Jeremy – who went to his room to wake him for a scheduled lunch at the Pahrump Senior Center – around 11:00 a.m.  No cause of death has been determined. The Clark County coroner will conduct an autopsy.

Jeremy was in town for Hof's campaign rally which doubled as a birthday party Monday night.

Jeremy told our sister station in Las Vegas that Hof went to his room around midnight with one of the working girls at the Love Ranch.

He says she left the room about an hour and a half later then Hof spoke to a staff member before going to bed.

Jeremy says he went to wake him in the morning for a meeting...that's when he found him. "This thing's such a shock. Out of nowhere, I'm looking at this guy that'd been my friend for 25 years on the bed, you know, stiff, you know, cold, eyes at half mast, it's like what the heck?"

On Monday, Muth tweeted photos of Hof's birthday party/campaign rally in Pahrump. Attendees included Grover Norquist and former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

The former six-term sheriff of metropolitan Phoenix said he was astounded Tuesday by news of Hof's death and called it "shocking." The former sheriff said Hof was in good spirits when Arpaio left the party at a hotel in Pahrump, about an hour from Las Vegas, around 10 p.m. Monday.

Arpaio said he had taken part in some of Hof's efforts to campaign for the Nevada state Assembly and was asked by Hof to speak at the party.

The lawman said he delivered his comments to the crowd, wished Hof well and ate birthday cake.

Hof fashioned himself as a Donald Trump-style candidate and called himself the "Trump of Pahrump."

Nye County sheriff Lt. David Boruchowitz says there is no sign of foul play. Muth added that "Dennis died quietly in his sleep."

Hof was running for Nevada State Assembly District 36, facing Democrat Lisa Romanov in the November general election.

The Nevada Secretary of State’s Office told us, “his name will remain on the ballot so votes for him will be counted. If he happens to win, the legislature will take over the process to fill the vacancy. The counties will be posting notices of his death on Election Day and for early voting.”

Hof owned several brothels across Nevada including the Moonlite Bunny Ranch and the Cherry Patch.

Hof appeared in the HBO series 'Cathouse' which documented the lives of some of the workers in his brothels.

His Love Ranch brothel is where NBA player Lamar Odom was found unconscious in 2015.

KLAS-TV reporter Patrick Walker says Hof was found dead in the same room as Odom.

The brothel was temporarily shuttered twice this year by regulators who said Hof had failed to renew licenses and get proper permits for renovations.

Hof had also been accused of sexual assault on at least four occasions. The Nevada Department of Public Safety says it is investigating an allegation made in September but has released few details.

Hof had denied any wrongdoing.

Lyon County Manager Jeff Page released this statement:

Lyon County expresses their condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Hof.

Mr. Hof has been a long time businessman in Lyon County. He has contributed thousands of dollars to many charities over the years. He has been a controversial figure in local and state politics.

Lyon County officials has been asked how Mr. Hof's death affects Lyon County Question 1. County Manager Jeff Page explained the question will remain on the ballot. The question addresses legalized prostitution, regardless of who owns them.
