The South Lake Tahoe Police Department says they've arrested a man in connection to a homicide that happened in the 3600 block of Aspen Avenue in South Lake Tahoe.

They said 60-year-old Paul Hollingsworth confessed to a family member that he killed his 70-year-old girlfriend. Her name is being withheld until next of kin are notified.

Officers forced entry into the home on Thursday and located the victim unconscious and not breathing. She was transported to Barton Memorial Hospital and later flown to Renown in Reno. She succumbed to her injuries Friday morning.

Police say Hollingsworth is cooperating with investigators and he was booked in the El Dorado County Jail on murder charges.
