Nevada Highway Patrol says two people died after a multiple car crash on I-80 near West Wendover early Monday afternoon.

NHP says preliminary investigation indicates a maroon Nissan, matching the description of the earlier reported wrong-way driver was heading east in the west lane.

NHP says the Nissan struck a black Toyota sedan traveling west in the fast lane, and then spun out towards the median. The Toyota then turned into the slow lane, and was hit by a commercial truck that was heading west.

NHP says the Toyota driver, 58-year-old Timothy Yahn of Township, Pennsylvania died on scene, while Nissan driver, 75-year-old Nanette Marlow died at the University of Utah hospital.

Two others were not seriously hurt.

The investigation is ongoing.
