The City of Reno has released the arrest statistics for this year's Hot August Nights event.

According to the Reno Police Department, 23 people were given citations for misdemeanor offenses; 38 were given citations for traffic offenses. Police also arrested 28 people. Seven of those arrests were for felony charges, while 21 were for misdemeanor charges.

The city also says the Street Enforcement team conducted their own operations during Hot August Nights, leading to five arrests and five citations for prostitution.

Lt. Robert Larson says the success of the event can be credited to a tourism-based policing philosophy, and by partnering with Hot August Nights organizers.
