Nevada football junior punter Quinton Conaway has been nominated to the Ray Guy Award watch list.

Conaway is one of 35, and one of three from the Mountain West, currently on the watch list for the Ray Guy Award, which is presented annually to the nation’s top punter by the Augusta Sports Council. The initial watch list was released on July 25 with 27 punters listed, but the list continues to grow as additional punters are nominated by their team’s communications personnel. The list of complete candidates will be released on Nov. 5.

Conaway, who enters his second full season with the Wolf Pack in 2018, was the team’s go-to punter last year. He averaged 39.6 yards per punt on 48 tries, including a long of 55 yards. Of Conaway’s 48 punts, 26 were fair caught, five were placed inside the 20 yard line and four went over 50 yards.

In mid-November, the Ray Guy Award committee will meet to select the ten semifinalists, who will be announced on Nov. 15. A national body of Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) sports information directors, media representatives and previous Ray Guy Award winners will then vote for the top three finalists to be announced on Nov. 20. After the finalists are named, the voting body will cast ballots again to select the nation’s top punter. The winner will be announced live during The Home Depot College Football Awards airing on ESPN on Thursday, Dec. 6.
