Police say both a missing girl from Haskell Texas along with another missing child reported out of Reno are safe and that three people are behind bars.

On August 1st authorities in Texas told Sparks Police about a missing 9-year-old girl who was possibly living in or around homeless camps along the Truckee River. Reno and Sparks police started investigating and found that the girl was taken from Texas by her non-custodial parent, Desiree Ward. 

On August 6th Sparks police, with the help of the Washoe County Sheriff's Office and US Forest Service, found a campsite in a remote area south of Verdi, Nevada. 

Investigators hiked into the area and found the missing girl from Haskell, Texas along with a missing juvenile from Reno. Three adults were arrested at the campsite without incident. Both kids were taken into protective custody and will be reunited with their respective families.

Police arrested 60-year-old David Burns for felony harboring/concealing/aiding a felon. Desiree Ward, 39 was arrested for fugitive from justice and Tina Reid, 55, was charged with two felony counts of 2nd degree kidnapping and one count of harboring/concealing/aiding a felon.
