The Second Judicial District Court Family Division and the Reno Rodeo Foundation are banding together to introduce the new Second Judicial District Court Family Division Reading Rooms.

The Reading Rooms will provide comfort for children involved in family court proceedings as they face emotionally challenging situations.

The rooms are located just outside the courtroom and are created to offer a safe and comforting space that provides children with a refuge from the emotional trauma often accompanied by legal proceedings.

The two Reading Rooms are decorated for children and the goal is to have volunteer retired teachers reading to children during their time there.

After their visit, each child is gifted a new book to take home and for many, it might be the first new book they've ever owned.

The rooms were introduced on Wednesday in partnership with the Reno Midtown Rotary Club, Delta Kappa Gamma and artist Kandyce Ray.
