Health Watch: Meadow View Farms Charity Horse Show
Riders spend a lot of time with their horses ahead of competitions. However, next month they will compete for more than just ribbons; they will ride for a special group of children. Who the Meadow View Farms Charity Horse Show benefits in Health Watch.
While horses have long been used for therapy, the majestic animals - along with top equestrians in town - are also helping kids with cancer - both emotionally and financially.
The owners of Meadow View Farms are hosting the 7th annual MVF Charity Horse Show to raise money for the Northern Nevada Children's Cancer Foundation. The three-day event attracts a lot of talent, horse enthusiasts and families who watch in awe of what these horses can do.
The response from spectators has been astounding. Last year, the horse show raised more than $60,000 - with the help of sponsors like Jaguar Land Rover Reno, Juniper Hill Design and Featherlite Trailers. Plus, there's a raffle and silent auction. Since its inception in 2012, the event has donated more than $205,000 to the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation.
Every year, more than 40 kids are diagnosed with cancer in our community and you will hear from some of them during the event.
The MVF Charity Horse Show is July 6th-8th at 2600 Rhodes Road in south Reno. Admission to watch competitions is free. There are a number of special events, too. To buy tickets, click on: https://meadowviewfarms.biz/mvf-charity-horse-show
