UPDATE: Reno Police have released more details on the carjacking incident that happened on Monday evening near Sutro Street.

A woman reported that she was vacuuming her car at a car wash when a suspect approached her, pointed a gun and her, then stole her car and purse.

The stolen vehicle was a grey 2001 GMC Yukon. 

The suspect collided with two parked cars after the pursuit, where he was trapped inside on the southwest corner of Tripp Drive and Clear Acre Lane. 

Police say he was highly intoxicated but there were no injuries.

Clear Acre Lane is closed from Stealwood Lane to Wedekind Road.

Police recovered the gun in the car and the woman identified the suspect. They could not find her purse.

The vehicle was released back to the owner and they are currently trying to tow it.

The suspect has been identified as thirty eight-year-old Erica Romero-Labatto.

He is charged with multiple accounts including robbery and in possession of a stolen vehicle.

The Reno Police Department reports that they responded to a carjacking that ended in a crash near Wedekind Road and North McCarran Boulevard Monday night.

They said a suspect stole a vehicle around 6:45 p.m. at Wedekind and Sutro Street.

They located the car at Highland Valley Road where the pursuit began.

The suspect crashed at Clear Acre Lane and caused a single vehicle accident after failing to negotiate a turn.

Reno Police surrounded the vehicle and arrested him for possession of a stolen vehicle.

They are warning the public to stay away from Clear Acre Lane between Wedekind and McCarran.
