A project that would bring more than a thousand new homes to Stagecoach was shot down by Lyon County Planning Commissioners Tuesday. The project will now move forward to the Board of Commissioners on April 5th, 2018.

Ryan Canaday spoke to residents against the project Monday. Officials say many of the Stagecoach residents showed up to the commission meeting Tuesday as well. Following four and a half hours of discussion the LCPC voted unanimously to deny an application that would convert 491 acres from rural to suburban and high-density subdivisions with mixed use.

The commission recognizes the need for the proposed land use but adds that the project would be in the wrong location.
