A suspected armed robber led authorities on a dangerous high-speed chase in Spring Creek Tuesday night.

The Elko Coutny Sheriff's Office says deputies patrolling the area of Merino Drive around 10 p.m. saw a car that matched the suspect vehicle from an armed robbery in Elko earlier that evening. When deputies tried to stop the car the suspect took off leading to a pursuit with speeds near 90 miles per hour. Authorities say the driver tried to ram patrol vehicles several times during the chase before eventually stopping at a home on Barrington Avenue in Elko.

The driver, Timothy Longhurst was arrested at that home. A passenger in the car was getting a ride from Longhurst and asked to be let out of the car when the chase started, but authorities say he refused.

Longhurst was charged for the chase as well as assault and kidnapping charges. He was held on $246,085 bail.

Anyone with questions or information on the armed robbery that started the pursuit should be directed to the Elko Police Department at (775) 777-7310.
