Two Women Arrested Trying to Smuggle Drugs Into Ely State Prison

The Nevada Department of Corrections says two women were arrested after they tried to smuggle drugs into Ely State Prison on Sunday.

As a result of an investigation, the Nevada Department of Public Safety and Eastern Nevada Narcotic Task Force says the agencies seized a total of about 27 grams of methamphetamine. 

19-year-old Daveonda Neal and 35-year-old Tonya Alexander are charged with trafficking a controlled substance 4-14 grams (Methamphetamine), transporting a controlled substance (Methamphetamine), and attempted furnishing of a controlled substance to a State Prisoner. 

The North Las Vegas women are being held on $150,000 bail.
