Expect lane closures next week while NDOT begins installing the new Welcome to Nevada sign at the state line.

The Nevada Department of Transportation will be installing the bases for the new sign on I-80 at the California/Nevada state line Monday morning between 5:30 and 8:00 a.m.

They say that drivers can expect single lane closures on both directions of the freeway in the area that day and again in the coming weeks when the sign face is installed.

Existing signs across the state are being replaced by student-designed ones. Four wining designs were chosen, you can see them in the photo attached to this story.

The first of the approximately 25 signs has already been installed on State Route 88 south of Minden at the border.
