More Than 5,000 Cars Registered For This Year's Hot August Nights

Posted: Updated:

With 5,300 classic vehicles at Hot August Nights (HAN), it is hard to imagine that there is room for even more vehicles. To register your car it must be 1976 or older and must be able to drive, but not everyone can join in on the fun. "This is first come first serve, so we do have to turn people away, the first night we filled up the streets, which we have never done before," says HAN Executive Director, Mike Wahn.

For the participants they make sure they are prepared ahead of time so they don't get turned away. "You have to register ahead of time, which I did in December," says Daryl Goettling from Kansas City, Missouri. But it didn't use to be that easy. "There was a waiting list, you had to wait. That was the hardest part you had to wait, but now they increased how many people are allowed to come," explains Terry Trimble from Sacramento.

It isn't just the amount of cars that have grown over the years. "It's not just the cars that are bigger this years, it is the crowds. And I think it is because of all the things we are doing, all the different events," says Wahn.

HAN ends August 13th, for a list of events visit:
